Miami Gardens police arrest Family Dollar shooting suspect

Jamal Bethel caught Sunday, police say

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A man accused of attempted murder was taken into police custody Sunday night, police in Miami Gardens said.

Jamal Bethel will be charged in connection with a shooting that took place outside a Family Dollar store last week.

The Miami Gardens Police Department previously said officers were looking for Bethel, who was considered armed and dangerous.

Bethel, 22, got into an argument with the shooting victim Thursday inside the store on Northwest 27th Avenue, Miami Gardens police Officer Carolyn Frazer said.

Frazer said the argument spilled outside when Bethel pulled out a gun and shot the victim.

Bethel took off before police arrived, Frazer said.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital and is expected to survive.
