Burglars steal $250,000 worth of family heirlooms from Hollywood home

Ring doorbell video shows man wanted in burglary

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Hollywood Police Department detectives are searching for a man, at least two of his accomplices and the $250,000 in family heirlooms that they are accused of stealing from a home in Hollywood.

Surveillance video from the homeowners' Ring doorbell camera shows one of the thieves peeking into the home in the area of South Southlake Drive and South Seventh Avenue about 6:40 p.m. Dec. 15.

When no one answered, the man -- who was wearing a Houston Astros championship baseball cap -- broke into the house and emptied the family's safe. The burglars are accused of taking a gold charmed bracelet, several designer necklaces, rings and earrings.

The victims said some of the priceless pieces were family heirlooms that had been in the family for more than a century. Police said the burglars spent about 30 minutes inside the home before leaving in a car that was parked outside. Someone was inside the car waiting.

Detectives were asking anyone with information about the burglary to call the Hollywood Police Department at 954-764-4357 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477. There is a reward of up to $8,400 for information leading to an arrest.
