Man found shot inside car in Liberty City, police say

Shooting left vehicle riddled with bullets, leaking fuel

MIAMI – A man was shot Wednesday in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood, police said.

Officer Michael Vega, a spokesman for the Miami Police Department, said officers were called to the 1500 block of Northwest 62nd Terrace around 6 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Officers at the scene found a man with several gunshot wounds inside a 2019 Nissan.

The car was riddled with bullets and leaking fuel after the shooting.

"Man, it sounded like a lot, like a lot, a lot. It was at least over 10 shots," one witness told Local 10 News reporter Louis Aguirre.

Paramedics took the man to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. He is listed in stable condition.

A woman, who didn’t want to be identified, said her cousin Donnell Williams was the victim. She and Williams' sister raced to the hospital. His sister and cousin said they don't know any details as to how this happened or who did this. All they know is their loved one is alive.

"He (is) alive, so we grateful, that's all," she said.
