Police say security guards shot after brawl inside strip club

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One man was killed and another man was wounded Thursday morning in a shooting outside the Booby Trap in northwest Miami-Dade County, police said.

Miami-Dade police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said a preliminary investigation determined that a brawl broke out inside the strip club on Northwest South River Drive and security guards escorted everyone involved in the fight outside.

According to authorities, several vehicles traveling west came to a stop in front of the business. The shooter or shooters then got out and opened fire toward the business, striking two employees.

Zabaleta said a 31-year-old security guard, later identified as Jose Otero, of Coral Springs, was killed, while another security guard, Eric Bauer, 46, drove himself to Jackson Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his upper extremity.

Jose Otero, 31, was gunned down Jan. 17 outside Booby Trap in northwest Miami-Dade, police say.

The shooter or shooters fled the scene.

No arrests have been made, but at least one woman could be seen leaning out the back window of a police car. Another woman was seen weeping and being consoled by a police officer.

Anyone with further information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
