Man found shot in neck at Valero gas station in northwest Miami-Dade

Police called to shooting at nearby Club 79 minutes earlier

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was found shot in the neck Friday morning at a northwest Miami-Dade County gas station.

The man was found with a gunshot wound to the neck shortly after 4 a.m. at a Valero gas station on Northwest 79th Street.

Minutes earlier, Miami-Dade police were notified of a shooting blocks away at Club 79, Detective Angel Rodriguez said.

The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

Police could be seen collecting evidence from an AcuraTSX parked outside the gas station with a shattered driver's side window and cracked rearview mirror.

Officers used a firearm-sniffing dog to search for a gun the shooter may have discarded.

They also interviewed witnesses to find out what led to the shooting and if they have any description of the shooter.

Kevin Euceda told Local 10 News reporter Madeleine Wright he showed up at dawn to work at Cisco Flooring Supplies, but he couldn't get in the building, because it's in the middle of the crime scene.

"We open up at 7:30. I asked them if we could, and they said, 'No,'" Euceda said.

No other information about the shooting was immediately known.

Detectives are investigating.
