5-year-old boy, man shot in Lauderhill

Officers search for shooter at Lauderhill apartment complex

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A 5-year-old boy and a 30-year-old man were shot Wednesday night in Lauderhill, according to the Lauderhill Police Department. Officers are searching for the shooter.

Witnesses said there was an argument before the shooting.

Police believe the man and the boy knew the shooter, who likely did not intend to strike the boy.

When officers arrived at the Lauderhill Point apartment building near Northwest 31st Avenue and Northwest 19th Street, the man and the boy were in the hallway on the first floor.

"This apartment complex is filled with children," Lt. Michael Santiago, a spokesman for the Lauderhill Police Department, said.
