Cypress Bay High School evacuated because of 'suspicious' fire

No injuries reported after bathroom fire

Students gather on the football field at Cypress Bay High School after a fire was reported in a bathroom.

WESTON, Fla. – Cypress Bay High School was evacuated Wednesday afternoon because of a fire.

According to the Broward Sheriff's Office, a fire was started inside a first floor boys bathroom on campus.

Firefighters could be seen entering the school.

BSO Department of Fire Resuce Battalion Chief Michael Kane said firefighters extinguished a small fire inside a void space near the bathroom.

Deputies said there were no injuries.

Students were eventually allowed back inside.

Kane said the BSO and state fire marshal will investigate the cause of the fire, which appears to be suspicious.
