Police now say no gunfire after Doral hit-and-run crash

DORAL, Fla. – Police have corrected an earlier report that shots were fired after a hit-and-run crash. 

According to Doral Police, a thorough investigation revealed that the driver who fled after a hit-and-run crash did not open fire on another vehicle.

The crash happened at Northwest 25th Street and 79th Avenue. 

Doral police initially said at least one person involved in the crash fired a gun at the other vehicle before fleeing the scene. Police later said they regret and apologize for the error. 

Detectives said it was a muffler that sounded like gunfire. 

There were no reported injuries. 

Police said the subject vehicle has a Massachusetts license plate.
