MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Scarlett Willard stands accused on Thursday of stabbing two lovers in the abdomen within two months in South Florida, records show.
Willard, 35, used a smoking device to stab a lover on May 16 in Broward County and a kitchen knife to stab another lover about two months later in Miami-Dade County, according to police officers.
“Ms. Willard is also currently on an ankle monitor for a domestic-related aggravated battery with a deadly weapon incident,” a Miami Gardens police officer wrote, according to an arrest report.
Willard, of Hollywood, had been arrested for domestic violence three times — going back to when she was 21 —in Broward, when police officers arrested her for domestic violence on May 16 in Sunrise and on Wednesday in Miami Gardens, records show.
Shortly before 1:40 a.m., on Wednesday, Miami Gardens police officers responded to a mobile home along Dorado Avenue, near Aledo Circle, according to a police officer’s arrest report.
The victim was “sitting in a chair in the back of the property. He had a puncture wound to the abdomen ... stated that he and Ms. Willard were arguing over her being unfaithful ... Willard grabbed a kitchen knife, with a white plastic handle, and stabbed him,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel took the victim to the HCA Florida Aventura Hospital, where he underwent surgery and was able to talk to a detective hours later, according to a police report.
“He advised that Ms. Willard had been beating on him all day. He said she disrespects him in his own home by talking to the victim from her Broward case ... He said today, Ms. Willard punched him in the face several times and choked him. She gave him a bloody nose and knocked a tooth out. While he was in the bathroom cleaning his face from the blood, Ms. Willard stabbed him,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
Police officers searched the apartment and found the kitchen knife with the white handle on the kitchen table, after Willard told police officers that the victim had “stabbed himself,” according to the report.
“She advised that [the victim] gets aggressive when he drinks ... had been arrested in the past for domestic violence against her ... [they] have been in an on-and-off romantic relationship for over five years ... for the past two months they have been living together,” a police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
On May 16, police officers responded to a house along Oakland Park Boulevard, near Northwest 94 Avenue in Sunrise, and accused Willard of aggravated battery with a deadly, records show.
“I observed blood on her hands ... she stated that she injured her hand while punching [the victim] and while using a smoking device to stab him ... she picked up a small black sharp object commonly used for smoking cannabis,” a Sunrise police officer wrote, according to the arrest report.
The victim said Willard “grabbed a small black object used for smoking marijuana from a brown desk located on the right side of the room and began stabbing him multiple times in the stomach area,” a police officer wrote, according to the report.
Police officers seized the device, identified Willard as “the primary aggressor,” arrested her, and took her to the Broward County Main Jail in Fort Lauderdale, where corrections booked her, records show.
Broward court records show prosecutors filed a case against Willard on May 18, and she faced a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was released on a $700 bond and was under an agreement to house arrest with an electronic monitor.
Miami-Dade court records show prosecutors filed a case against Willard on Thursday, and she faced charges of second-degree felony attempted murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A judge ordered her pre-trial detention.
Broward County Circuit Judge Tim Bailey and Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Richard Hersch were presiding over the pending cases.
