3 girls shot in Liberty City

MIAMI ā€“ Three girls, ages 10, 15 and 18, were shot in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood late Tuesday afternoon, police said.

The shooting happened around 5:30 p.m. near Northwest 13th Avenue and 67th Street.

Miami police said the three girls were outside a home on Northwest 65th Street when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside it began shooting. The vehicle then sped off in an unknown direction.

Three girls were struck by the gunfire. Police said the 10-year-old, identified as Deshareah Wright (pictured, above), was shot in the arm and ran for help but collapsed in front of a nearby house.

The other two girls were grazed by bullets. The mother of the 18-year-old identified her daughter as Jaquelyn Powell. The 15-year-old girl has not been identified.

All three were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center. Police said their injuries are not life-threatening.

Police have not taken anyone into custody yet.
