3 taken to hospital in Lauderhill crashes

LAUDERHILL, Fla. - Three people, including a police officer and a child, were taken to the hospital after two separate crashes in Lauderhill Thursday morning.

According to police, a police car and another car collided on S.R. 441 and 19th Street. The officer was taken to Plantation General and the woman who was driving the other vehicle was taken to Broward Health. Both are expected to be okay.

Investigators say the police cruiser had its lights and siren on at the time of the crash.

A few blocks away, a 14-year-old girl was taken to Broward Health after she was struck by a car. Initial reports said she was in critical condition, but police later said she was speaking and conscious after the crash. She was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure and is expected to be okay.

Charges for the drivers involved in both crashes are pending the outcome of the investigation
