OVIEDO, Fla. - Four people were injured Monday when a concrete slab fell at a construction site in Oviedo near the University of Central Florida, according to officials.

The collapse happened around 9:30 a.m. along Lockwood Boulevard near Foxcroft Circle.

According to Seminole County fire officials, two construction workers were trapped under the slab, which somehow fell while it was being lowered.  The workers were taken to a hospital in serious condition.

Two other workers were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Video from Local 6 helicopter Sky 6 showed police tape surrounding the building and several emergency vehicles were at the scene.

UCF said it does not own the property, nor is it overseeing the project, which includes a 600-bed student housing facility scheduled to open in the fall of 2013.  UCF is slated to provide housing management and marketing services for the project.

"Our thoughts are with those who were injured, and we hope they experience a complete recovery," UCF said in a statement.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called to investigate the incident.
