911 calls of SUV into lake released

4 killed when SUV crashes, plunges into lake off I-95 in Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Highway Patrol released 911 calls Tuesday made after a sport utility vehicle crashed and plunged into a lake off Interstate 95 in Deerfield Beach, killing four people.

Sandalie Jean-Baptiste, 20; Guivens Daverman, 16; Nadege Theodore, 37; and, her daughter Lyn, 15, were killed in the crash on Jan. 2.

The four were returning from the Town Center at Boca Raton when their Lexus SUV was involved in a three-car crash, sending it into a lake, say police.

"Hi, we have an emergency here over I-95 after 10th Avenue. A car is going into the lake," one caller told a 911 operator.

Other calls showed operators having a hard time pinpointing the location of the crash. In another, the caller said people were inside the SUV as it went into the water.

"Was there somebody still in the Jeep that went down?" asked an operator.

"Yes. There's people in there still," said the caller.
