Armed men steal Biltmore Hotel safe

Biltmore Hotel's safe containing $15,500 stolen at gunpoint

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Police hope surveillance video helps them catch three armed men who stole a safe containing about $15,000 from the Biltmore Hotel.

The armed robbery happened at 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables about 4 a.m. Jan. 21.

Police say a brown Nissan Maxima with three men inside of it backed in to the loading dock of the hotel. One of the armed men went in to the security office, forced the security guard to the ground, and took his iPhone.

As they took the safe away, the armed robbers ran in to the pastry chef, who they also forced to the ground, say police.

The men then loaded the safe in to the back seat of their car and drove away, say police.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to call the Coral Gables Police Department at 305-442-1600 or Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
