Bertha acquires extratropical characteristics

PEMBROKE PARK, Fla. - Post-tropical cyclone Bertha acquired extratropical characters Wednesday days after becoming a hurricane.

As of 11 a.m. Wednesday, maximum sustained winds decreased to 50 mph with gradual weakening expected.

Bertha was centered about 305 miles south of Halifax Nova Scotia and was moving northeast near 31 mph.

Bertha is the second hurricane of the 2014 season.
