MIRAMAR, Fla. - A boy who witnessed a fellow classmate's attack by another student told Local 10 he should have intervened.

Sebastian Louis said he witnessed another student grab Taishawn Lee from behind and slam him to the ground.

"He just came and slammed him," Louis said Thursday.

It happened last month after sixth period at New Renaissance Middle School in Miramar. A police report indicates the children were horseplaying when it got out of hand.

"I feel bad now," Louis said. "I should have, like, stopped it."

The teenager now has a 6-inch scar after a procedure fused the bones in his neck.

"Now his whole life has changed because boys couldn't stop playing," friend Daija Rowe said.

Lee's mother filed a lawsuit holding the school and other student responsible.
