DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man whose body washed ashore in Deerfield Beach.

The body of Jay Harper was found Oct. 17 in the 900 block of Southeast 21 Avenue, behind the Embassy Suites.

According to BSO, Harper, 47, was in South Florida for a business conference. Harper went to the beach with a woman between midnight and 2 a.m. About two hours later, he was found dead.

Investigators interviewed the woman but she is not considered a suspect. Foul play is believed to have played a role in Harper's death.

According to the Medical Examiner's Office, the cause of Harper's death remains undetermined.
