Burglar crawls in through Hollywood home's window, steals cash, jewelry

Surveillance video shows man trying to squeeze through window in backyard

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – Police are trying to identify a man who burglarized a Hollywood home last month, getting away with about $4,000 in cash and jewelry.

The burglary was reported July 9 at a home in the 100 block of North 31st Avenue.

Hollywood police said the burglar knocked on the front door of the home and, after nobody answered, walked into the backyard, where he removed a pair of gloves from his pocket and pried open a window.

Police said the man climbed into the house and later climbed out carrying a red bag.

Surveillance video released Thursday showed the man first attempting to climb in through another window, but he couldn't fit and chose the second window instead.

Anyone who recognizes the burglar is asked to call Hollywood police at 954-764-4357.
