Car crashes into pillar outside Dunkin' Donuts in Fort Lauderdale

Woman accidentally steps on gas pedal while trying to park in handicapped spot

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A car crashed into a pillar outside of a Dunkin' Donuts restaurant Tuesday morning in Fort Lauderdale.

Sky 10 was above the scene as a tow truck was trying to remove the car from the sidewalk near the front entrance of the store, 1601 E. Sunrise Blvd.

A witness told Local 10 News that a woman had been trying to park in a handicapped space in front of the store when she accidentally stepped on the gas pedal.

Robert Freeman said the incident happened seconds after a woman and her daughter had entered the store.

"It's a miracle," Freeman said.

The car came to rest between a pillar and the front of the store.

Customers could be seen walking out of the store with Dunkin' Donuts bags and using the drive-through window.

No one was injured in the crash.
