Coca-Cola truck crashes into gas pump in Hollywood

Driver says he tried to avoid car that stopped in front of him

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – The driver of a Coca-Cola truck heading westbound on Pembroke Road says he tried to avoid a car that stopped suddenly in front of him and crashed into a gas pump at the Sunoco station.

The incident happened Thursday across the street from the Coca-Cola plant at Pembroke and South Park roads.

A woman who was driving a white car pulled into the station and walked inside to pay for her fuel. That's when the truck hit.

Had she paid at the pump or had been fueling up, the woman believes she could have been killed.

The woman also works for Coca-Cola. She says she was leaving the plant in the rented car to head back to her home in Melbourne, but decided to fuel up first.

No other details were provided.
