Company to help Coral Springs church replace stolen AC units

Art Plumbing & Air Conditioning offers payment plan to Living Word Christian Center

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A Coral Springs church is getting a helping hand after its air-conditioning units were stolen last weekend.

The Rev. Oral Walters walked inside his Living Word Christian Center on Saturday afternoon to find it uncomfortably warm.

"When it wasn't getting cooler after I switched the AC on, I looked up through the ceiling vent and could see the sky," Walters told Local 10 News. "That's how I knew there was a problem."

It turns out someone stole the AC units from their perch on the roof.

"They tear out parts and sell them back to businesses as scrap metal," Gregg D'Attile, owner of Art Plumbing & Air Conditioning, told Local 10 News. "Something that will go for a couple hundred dollars out there takes thousands of dollars to repair the AC unit."

D'Attile and his team felt compelled to help Walters and his church by replacing the AC units for a modest price and payment plan.

"It's a shame that the people of this church have to suffer," D'Attile said.

For now, the church is filled with temporary units.

"This place is very warm when it's empty, so you can imagine what it feels like with 300 people in here," Walters said.
