Construction underway on I-75 express lanes

FDOT plans to connect Palmetto, I-75 express lanes to I-595 express lanes

MIRAMAR, Fla. - The Florida Department of Transportation has big plans for the future Interstate 75 express lanes.

"We started segment C, which is the second of four segments for the 75 express lanes project," project spokeswoman Monica Diaz told Local 10. "It runs from south of Miramar Parkway to just south of Sheridan Street."

Construction of this segment will cost $85 million. The entire 15-mile project will cost $536 million.

This is all part of a bigger plan to connect the Palmetto express lanes to the I-75 express lanes, eventually connecting to the new express lanes on Interstate 595.

Changes will include improvements and expansion to accommodate the I-75 express lanes, so expect intermittent closures to the Miramar Parkway interchange.

Diaz said the lane closures are during daytime, non-peak hours, typically between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
