MIAMI - A married couple is facing felony charges in what authorities say was a fraud scheme involving over-billing at a county-owned hotel at Miami International Airport.

Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle identified the couple Monday as Jorge Isaac Maquilon and his wife, county employee Ivy Evans-Maquilon. Both are 54 and citizens of Peru. They were jailed on $60,000 bail apiece and court records did not indicate whether they had a lawyer.

Prosecutors say the scheme involved over-billing for hotel supplies by two companies owned by Jorge Maquilon. His wife allegedly used her position as part of hotel management to further the fraud.

They are accused of bilking Miami-Dade County out of more than $222,000. They are charged with organized fraud and two counts of grand theft.
