CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – A man was extradited to Broward County Thursday from New York, months after he was arrested in connection with the fatal 2011 stabbing of a Coral Springs man.
Police said that Jason David Martinez, 28, a former Coral Springs resident, was arrested Oct. 19 in Port Jefferson, New York, after DNA evidence linked him to the crime.

He faces a first-degree murder charge.
Michael Hamilton, 31, was found stabbed to death in July 2011 inside his first-floor apartment in Coral Springs.
Police said about $300 was missing from Hamilton's apartment at 9893 NW 33rd St.
Surveillance video from the day of the murder shows Hamilton getting on and off several Broward County buses, including one at the Sawgrass Mills Mall hours before his death.
Detectives said they believe that Hamilton was attacked while entering his home, or while answering the front door.
Authorities said a bloody Adidas shoe print was left behind by the killer, and they believe that more than one person was involved in the killing.
Detectives said they initially had a difficult time uncovering information about Hamilton's personal life, including who he socialized with before his death.
