1 dead in suspected road-rage shooting off Palmetto Expressway

Gunshot followed physical altercation between drivers

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – One person was killed in a suspected road-rage shooting Friday morning off the Palmetto Expressway.

Florida Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Sanchez said one person was shot near the exit ramp at Northwest 25th Street.

According to the FHP, the driver of a semi-truck got out of his vehicle with a knife to approach a driver in a Nissan Altima.

A physical altercation ensued after the driver of the Altima letf his car. During the fight, the driver of the Altima took out a gun and shot and killed the truck driver.

A body was covered by a yellow tarp.

Miami-Dade police said the southbound lanes of 25th Street are closed during the investigation.

Authorities said the incident serves as a tragic reminder about the dangers of road rage.

"We have to keep our calm," Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said.
