FDLE to investigate shooting

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A man was killed Wednesday afternoon in a deputy-involved shooting in Lauderdale Lakes, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at an apartment complex at 3610 NW 21st St.

Sky 10 was above the scene shortly before 5:30 p.m. as deputies taped off the scene.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Michael Kane said the man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died of his injuries.

Witnesses at the scene identified the man as Jean Pedro Pierre, a former club owner who once ran for office in Haiti.

It was unclear whether Pierre was armed.

BSO spokeswoman Veda Coleman-Wright confirmed that he was shot after deputies were called at 4:44 p.m. about a domestic disturbance between a man and a woman at the apartment.

Coleman-Wright said the shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
