Police investigate incident

LAUDERHILL, Fla. – A person was fatally shot Monday morning in Lauderhill, city police said.

The shooting took place between 3:20 and 3:45 a.m. in the 4500 block of North University Drive.

Friends of the victim said they were celebrating a 21st birthday at Studio 5 Ten, a private venue, when an argument started and continued outside.

David Meyers said he witnessed the shooting, which took place in a strip mall parking lot.

He recalled hearing three gunshots.

"I didn't see the guy on the ground," Meyers said. "I didn't know where he was. I saw a woman crouched down walking. She said they shot him in the head and I saw a couple of other people calling the cops or trying to figure out what was going on."

The victim was critically injured, police said, and was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where the victim later died.

Police are investigating the incident.
