14-year-old accused of putting bag over woman's head during burglary

Victim escapes, runs to neighbors for help, authorities say

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. – A 14-year-old boy has been charged as an adult in connection with an attempted murder and burglary that was reported in Broward County.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Jessy Pierre broke into a home July 30 in Lauderdale Lakes by forcing open the front door and stole money and debit cards.

Authorities said a 26-year-old woman was sleeping in her bedroom when Pierre entered and put a plastic bag over her head in an attempt to suffocate her.

Police said the woman resisted Pierre's efforts and he removed the bag from her head, placing it around her neck and attempting to choke her.

The victim lost consciousness and awoke to Pierre punching and slapping her in the face, the affidavit stated.

The woman was able to break free and ran from the home unclothed, seeking help from neighbors.

Authorities said Pierre also broke into a 2005 Ford Ranger on July 25 and stole checks and a wristwatch.

Authorities said Pierre confessed to the vehicle burglary.

Pierre is charged with attempted murder, burglary involving a battery and larceny.
