2 men held up at gunpoint in Miami Beach home invasion

Thief gets away with several watches from home, police say

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Two men were held up at gunpoint Thursday night inside a home in Miami Beach, authorities said.

The home invasion was reported shortly after 8 p.m. at a home in the 2900 block of Flamingo Drive.

According to an incident report, a 27-year-old man was leaving through a rear door when he was confronted by a man who was dressed in all black.

The victim told detectives that the man pointed what he believed was a gun at him and told him that he would not hurt him, and was there just for the money and jewelry.

The victim said the man told him to take him to the safe, so he led the thief to the master bedroom, but told him that he didn't know the combination.

Police said a 22-year-old man who lives at the home was also confronted by the thief on the second floor, and the thief told him to go into the master bedroom.

Police said the culprit removed five watches from a dresser and placed them into his pocket. He also stole a wallet that had $25 in cash and two credit cards inside.

The man then ordered the victims to hand over their cellphones and go into the restroom shack area of the home near the pool, police said.

According to the report, the man threw the victims' cellphones into the pool and told them to count to 100 before they left the shack house.

The victims called police after the thief left their home.

The intruder is described by police as a black man between the ages of 20 and 30. He was wearing a green dust mask, a black, long-sleeved shirt, black pants and a hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about his identity is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
