2 thieves steal box truck in Pompano Beach, strip it for parts

$40,000 box truck found in Miami Gardens, deputies say

POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – The Broward Sheriff's Office is searching for two thieves who were captured on surveillance video earlier this year while stealing a box truck in Pompano Beach.

The theft was reported Jan. 29 at the Ryder service yard at 1281 SW 30th Ave.

Deputies said the men pulled up in a silver four-door Chevrolet sedan, cut the fence to the service yard with large bolt cutters and drove away with the box truck.

Detectives believe the thieves might have entered the enclosure through an opening in the fence that was created during a previous theft.

The truck, which is valued at more than $40,000, was found Feb. 4 in the 3100 block of Northwest 165th Street in Miami Gardens.

Authorities said the truck was stripped for its parts.

Anyone with information about the thieves is asked to call Detective Timothy Bush at 954-786-4211, or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
