Baby girl ingests heroin, overdoses; 2 arrested

Girl given 2 doses of Narcan to be revived

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – It took two doses of Narcan to revive an 11-month-old girl in July after she ingested heroin, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office reports.

Charlie Hagan and Joseph Critelli were arrested in this case. Their relationship to the girl wasn't made clear in an arrest report.

What is known is that days before the baby girl overdosed, Hagan was in the hospital for a heroin overdose that nearly killed her, a redacted arrest report said.

Hagan told deputies that she'd woken up to speak to someone in another room when she noticed the baby was acting fussy. She asked the other person if everything was OK and was told that the baby was going to be fed and put down for a nap.

Later, Hagan went to check on the baby and realized she wasn't breathing correctly, the arrest report said.

She called another woman in the room, who happened to be a registered nurse, and that woman gave the baby CPR until fire rescue arrived, the arrest report said.

The baby was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment.

Further information was not readily available.
