ISLAMORADA, Fla. - An intoxicated man who was caught trespassing at a Florida Keys marina was arrested after he lied to and cursed at deputies who questioned him, Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.
Gregory Pope, 46, of Tavernier, faces misdemeanor charges of trespassing and violating curfew.
A security guard at Bud N' Mary's Marina in Islamorada called deputies just before 1 a.m. after he encountered Pope stumbling around the property. He said Pope was belligerent to him and the responding deputies.
When deputies asked Pope where he lived and what he was doing there, Pope was uncooperative, replied with obscenities and gave two different streets without proper street numbers, Herrin said.
Pope became aggressive and refused to leave when asked to do so, Herrin said, so he was arrested.
A curfew is in effect for all of the Keys, which was hardest hit by Hurricane Irma earlier this month.
