BSO investigates fatal police-involved shooting in Coral Springs

Armed man shot after standoff with SWAT team, authorities say

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Broward Sheriff's Office detectives are investigating a police-involved shooting that was reported Wednesday in Coral Springs.

BSO spokeswoman Keyla Concepcion said Coral Springs police officers were called to the area of 11293 NW 11th Court about 1 p.m. regarding a suicidal man who was armed.

Concepcion said Robert Page, 71, barricaded himself, resulting in a standoff with police.

She said the shooting happened when Page, armed with a shotgun, confronted the Coral Springs SWAT team and refused their commands.

Page, a military veteran, was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the shooting, Concepcion said.

The officers involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
