BSO investigates shooting involving ICE officer in Deerfield Beach

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. – Broward sheriff's homicide detectives are investigating a shooting Thursday that involved an officer with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The shooting was reported just after noon at 279 NE 40th Court.

Deputies said an ICE officer fired their gun, but no one was injured.

ICE confirmed that the incident was related to their fugitive operations team.

Authorities said one suspect is in custody.

Residents in the area told Local 10 News reporter Todd Tongen that ICE agents were in a silver Chevy Trailblazer and their attention was on someone in a black Honda when the shooting occurred.

One neighbor who heard the gunfire said he also heard someone yell, "Get down on the ground."

Authorities did not say whether the suspect was armed. 

No other details were immediately released.
