Couple buys Parkland puppy using fraudulent credit card

Thieves rack up $1,500 on card at boutique pet shop

PARKLAND, Fla. – A couple who came into a boutique pet shop in Parkland last month with their baby used a fraudulent credit card to buy a puppy and pet supplies, authorities said.

Surveillance video shows the man and the woman, who was holding the baby on her hip, entering Puppy Plus at 7071 N. State Road 7 on Jan. 11.

Broward sheriff's deputies said the couple roamed around the store for about 30 minutes before they used a fraudulent credit card to buy a beagle puppy and pet supplies that cost more than $1,500.

Detectives believe that the thieves might have sold the puppy to a third party.

Anyone with information about the couple's identities is asked to call Detective Robert Rutkowski at 954-753-5050 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS. A reward of up to $3,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
