Family mourns 22-year-old man shot dead in South Miami

Victim's family asks gunman to turn himself in

SOUTH MIAMI, Fla. ā€“ The family of a man who was killed in a shooting at a South Miami market held a vigil Saturday to beg his killer to stop running from police.

Markeith Nickles, a father of a 2-year-old girl, was shot dead Friday at the South Miami Market.Ā

"He was 22 years old," his mother, Shakeshia Nickles, told Local 10 News. "He still had a whole life ahead of him."

Another man inside the market killed Nickles after accusing him of disrespecting his girlfriend, Nickles' aunt, Brandy Wells, said.Ā

"He had time to go to the car, come back and shoot my nephew dead," Wells said.

Nickles' family was asking the gunman, whom they claim has already been identified, to turn himself in to police.

"Life is so precious, and you can't get that back," Shakeshia Nickles said.
