Family pleads for help in finding hit-and-run driver who killed 80-year-old woman

$10,000 reward offered for information that leads to arrest

DAVIE, Fla. – Relatives left behind by an 80-year-old woman who was killed along with her dog by a hit-and-run driver in Davie are pleading with the public for help in finding the driver who killed Emma Kelsoe.

Kelsoe, her dog and her neighbor were struck by the car Feb. 1 in front of their homes off Southwest 18th Street and Southwest 86th Avenue.

Kelsoe's neighbor was the only survivor.

"The sooner you turn yourself in, the sooner the family can begin the process of forgiving you," Kelsoe's daughter, Suzanne Kolcz, said.

Vickie McCall, who survived the crash, shared her account of what happened that night.

"Emma and I were standing there just talking as neighbors do and the next thing I know she said something about a car," McCall said. "I turned, I looked (and) I saw a dark-colored car with headlights -- that is it," McCall said.

Kelsoe's family said they are painfully coping with the loss and won't rest until the person who did this comes forward.

"Just turn yourself in. It's not fair what you've done to my family," Kelsoe's granddaughter, Sara Rivera, said.

Residents told Local 10 News that speeding is a problem in the 55-and-older community, which is filled with people who have vision or hearing impairments.

Police are searching for a black or blue car in connection with the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.  A reward of up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to an arrest.
