FBI searches for serial bank robber in Broward County

Robber targets banks in Fort Lauderdale, Margate, Coconut Creek

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – FBI agents were searching for a man Friday night who is suspected of recently robbing at least three banks in Broward County. 

FBI agents believe the man first hit the Wells Fargo Bank branch in Margate on Wednesday. They released photos of him to the public after surveillance video showed two more bank robberies Friday.

About 4:45 p.m., the man walked into the PNC Bank branch at 999 E Commercial Blvd., in Fort Lauderdale. He handed a teller a note demanding cash and walked away.

FBI agents believe he did the same about an hour later at the PNC bank branch at 4560 Lyons Road, in Coconut Creek. 

A man with a similar body frame robbed a Citibank branch at 3101 N. Federal Highway, in Fort Lauderdale, Sept. 27; a TD Bank branch at 665 NW 62 St., in Fort Lauderdale, Sunday; and a Chase branch in Boynton Beach Tuesday. 

FBI agents were asking anyone with information about the bank robberies to call 754-703-2000 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
