Florida Department of Corrections officer arrested for sexual battery

Miami-Dade police officers arrest corrections officer

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – Miami-Dade police officers arrested a Florida Department of Corrections officer Friday.

Miami-Dade prosecutors had enough evidence to charge Trevor Hampton with sexual battery. The alleged crime was committed in a closet at the Miami-Dade County Women's Detention Center.

FDC spokeswoman Michelle Glady said the department cooperated during the investigation and prevented the officer from having contact with inmates.

"The actions of this officer are absolutely intolerable,"  Glady said in an e-mail.

Glady added the corrections officer was also going to be terminated and the FDC was also conducting an independent administrative investigation.
