Hialeah couple tied up during early morning home invasion

Armed intruder steals cash, jewelry from residents

HIALEAH, Fla. – A Hialeah couple was asleep inside their home early Friday when an intruder entered, tied them up and stole their cash and jewelry, police said.

The home invasion took place about 2:15 a.m. in an efficiency behind a home on Southeast Sixth Place.

Hialeah police said Yunelis Perales, 26, and Yoel Gomez Lopez, 38, were sleeping when they heard a loud noise at their front door. When they woke up, they were confronted by a gunman inside their home.

Police said the gunman told them not to move and demanded money and jewelry. He then tied them up with plastic zip ties and ransacked their home, getting away with some cash and jewelry.

The intruder was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt with a black-and-white bandanna over his face.

Police have not made an arrest.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
