Deputies were called to a dispute between a resident and a neighbor just before 6 p.m., Monroe County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Becky Herrin said.

The resident told deputies he was parked in front of Palenchar's home on Suncrest Road when Palenchar came outside and confronted him about parking there. He said Palenchar pointed a handgun with a laser scope at him during the confrontation.

When deputies asked Palenchar about the gun, he told them it was in his waistband, but he denied ever pointing it at his neighbor. Palenchar said he simply lifted his shirt and showed it to the neighbor.

Herrin said several guns were found in Palenchar's home, including a handgun with a laser scope.

Palenchar was arrested on a felony charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He also faces a misdemeanor drug charge after deputies found a pipe with marijuana residue in the home, Herrin said.
