Man accused of beating homeless man to death near Fort Lauderdale

Body of Youssef Hamraoui, 46, found near vacant building

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was arrested Tuesday night in connection with the fatal beating of a homeless man that was reported last month. 

Jose Arturo Bizarro-Cermeno, 44, was arrested on a premeditated murder charge.

Broward Sheriff's Office deputies said the body of Youssef Hamraoui, 46, was found by a passerby at  11:40 p.m. Oct. 21 near a vacant building at 1955 S. State Road 7.  

The 911 caller initially believed that Hamraoui needed medical assistance, but deputies arrived to find that the victim had been beaten to death.

Detectives said Bizarro-Cermeno and the victim had an ongoing dispute, which ultimately led to the killing.

Authorities obtained a warrant for Bizarro-Cermeno's arrest on Halloween and arrested him two hours later near the scene of the crime.
