Man accused of leaving 'disturbing, explicit' letters on women's cars in Aventura

Suspect targeted women with children or who were pregnant, police say

AVENTURA, Fla. – A 41-year-old man was arrested Friday after he left numerous "disturbing and explicit" letters on women's vehicles outside a Whole Foods and Target in Aventura, an arrest report said.

Police said the suspect, Cavakia Therlonge, targeted women who were with young children or who were pregnant.

"The last thing you need is someone trying to harass you because you're pregnant or you have small children," Paula Moshe, a pregnant mother of three, said.

Authorities said they were notified last week about a man leaving the notes on women's vehicles in the Whole Foods parking lot at 21105 Biscayne Blvd. over the past two weeks.

Some of the letters were given to detectives as evidence, which included the suspect's Instagram name at the end of each note, the arrest report said.

Detectives went to the parking lot on Friday and saw Therlonge approach four women as they walked into Target or Whole Foods, authorities said.

Police said Therlonge would walk behind the women and speak to them in a harassing way.

They said all of the women were not receptive to his advances.

According to the arrest report, detectives saw Therlonge return to the women's vehicles after they shunned him and leave a note either on the windshield or door handle.

Police said he would then return to the front of Whole Foods and watch the parking lot while writing additional notes.

The detectives eventually approached Therlonge, who told them that he was "only trying to put out positive energy into the universe," the report said.

Police said Therlonge, who had a bag with several descriptions of women in the same handwriting as the letters, continually laughed while he was questioned by detectives.

Therlonge was arrested at the scene on a charge of loitering and prowling.

"There has to be some type of history -- some type of past, you know," a concerned mother, Mary Rossi, said. "Obviously, he's a troubled person."

Records show that Therlonge has a lengthy arrest history, including for charges of theft and loitering.
