Miami Fire Rescue gets dangerous 'rolling bomb' off the streets

MIAMI – Miami Fire Rescue got a "rolling bomb" off the streets of Miami Tuesday, according to Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll.

Miami police officers arrested Osvaldo Pelaez, 34, who was driving a van with a large 250-gallon tank. Carroll said it was a tragedy waiting to happen. 

"The driver could have become overcome by the fumes had he been driving and went unconscious, causing him to crash," Caroll said. 

Alert Shell gas station employees noticed gasoline was spilling from the side of the van, which was parked at 2020 NW 17 Avenue. 

Pelaez was accused of improperly transporting gasoline. Miami police officers were still investigating the driver and his van.They were asking anyone with information about the illegal operation to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
