Man found dead in pool of blood after firefighters respond to reports of fire

2 people in custody, authorities say

MIAMI ā€“ A man was found dead overnight in a Miami home after authorities received a report about a fire at the Poinciana Grove Apartments.

Authorities said Miami firefighters forced their way into the apartment at 5601 NW Second Ave. shortly after midnight Friday and found the victim, identified as Joseph Gonzalez, 64, lying in a pool of blood.

Police said there was a small fire in the kitchen which firefighters quickly extinguished.

Detectives said Gonzalez had been stabbed to death.

Authorities said the victim's car was found at about noon by Opa-locka police in the area of Northwest 37th Court and 157th Street.

Two people were taken into custody and questioned by detectives.

It's unclear whether they will face charges.
