Man remains hospitalized weeks after being punched in Miami Beach, police say

Detectives search for man captured on surveillance video on Lincoln Court

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. – Miami Beach are searching for a man who was captured on surveillance video punching another man earlier this month.

The incident was reported shortly after 9:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 1600 block of Lincoln Court.

Surveillance video showed the 41-year-old victim getting out of a Volkswagen sedan and speaking to the driver through the passenger window.

The driver eventually got out of the vehicle and continued arguing with the victim before punching him in the face.

The victim fell to the ground and has been hospitalized ever since, authorities said.

Police said the victim, who is from Canada, was conscious and intoxicated when they arrived. Authorities said he was also bleeding from his mouth.

Miami Beach police Officer William Collado said the victim also suffered severe head trauma.

Collado said the driver, who was in a black Jetta or Passat, left after the incident, driving south on Lincoln Court and then east on Lincoln Road.

It's unclear what the men were arguing about before the punch was thrown.

Anyone with information about the driver is asked to call Detective Phil Henson at 305-673-7776, extension 3704, or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
