Man robs Chevron gas station in Davie at gunpoint, police say

Thief leaves in black Nissan Frontier pickup truck

DAVIE, Fla. – Police are searching for a man who they said robbed a Chevron gas station Monday in Davie.

The armed robbery was reported just after 10 a.m. at the Chevron at 2340 S. University Drive.

Davie police said the thief handed the clerk a note that said: "You need to open the register. You need to give me the money."

Police said the clerk initially didn't understand what was happening and the robber told him, "Open the register and give me the money," while lifting up his shirt so the clerk could see that he had a handgun in his waistband.

Police said the man left with about $450 in cash.

The robber was captured on surveillance video leaving in a 2000-2005 black Nissan Frontier pickup truck.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 954-693-8200 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
