Police release surveillance video of Sept. 5 robbery, shooting

Surveillance video shows a robbery at a Citgo gas station on Northwest 31st Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - A man was pumping gas at a Citgo station in Fort Lauderdale earlier this month when two men got out of a nearby car and tried to snatch his necklace. The victim fought back and was shot in the leg.

Fort Lauderdale police on Wednesday released surveillance video of the Sept. 5 armed robbery that happened in the middle of the day.

Police said one of the men had a gun when they approached the victim at the gas station on Northwest 31st Avenue and demanded the necklace that he was wearing. When he refused, one of the men grabbed the victim's neck and tried to snatch the jewelry.

The victim tried to fight off his attacker, but the other man shot the victim in his leg.

Surveillance video showed the robbers run into their car and drive away after the shooting.
