Man shot while working on disabled car in Fort Lauderdale

Shooting reported Saturday in front of Midway Food Store

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – A man was fatally shot over the weekend as he was working on a disabled vehicle in Fort Lauderdale, authorities said.

The shooting was reported at 12:55 a.m. Saturday outside the Midway Food Store at 110 NW 11th Ave.

Fort Lauderdale police said the victim, identified as John Jackson, 50, was working on a disabled vehicle in front of the business when a man walked up to him and shot him.

Jackson was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

Surveillance video captured the man who detectives believe killed Jackson.

A motive for the shooting is unknown.
