Man stabs relative, flees with daughter in Oakland Park, authorities say

Arnold Jean, 24, arrested on aggravated battery charge

OAKLAND PARK, Fla. – A man stabbed a relative Monday and fled the scene with his 2-year-old daughter, authorities said.

The Broward Sheriff's Office said the incident was reported at the Oakwood Apartments at 4050 NE First Ave in Oakland Park.

Authorities said a man and a woman were involved in a heated dispute inside a white SUV, when the man stabbed the woman and then took off with his daughter.

"She was just screaming. I really didn't hear what she said," Mikayla Ageamuche, who witnessed the incident, said. "I just saw her running and she had the stab wound in her back, so that's what I saw."

Deputies said the suspect, identified as Arnold Jean,  24, and child were found blocks away from the scene at a business at 3900 N. Andrews Ave. The girl was not harmed, authorities said.

Authorities said the woman was taken to Broward Health Medical Center. She is expected to be released later Monday.

It's unclear what Jean and the victim were fighting about before the stabbing.

Jean was arrested on a charge of aggravated battery on a person 65 or older. His daughter was released to relatives.
